Treatment Overview
Pregnancy asks a lot of your body, shifting posture, added weight, and slower circulation can leave the low back, hips, and legs holding onto tension and swelling that a regular massage isn't built to address. Prenatal massage uses gentle pressure and supportive, side-lying positioning designed specifically for where you are in your pregnancy, not a scaled-down version of a deep-tissue session.
Our therapist asks about your due date, trimester, and any complications your doctor has flagged before every session, then builds the hour around your comfort that day. Browse the full Day Spa lineup for the other ways we help you feel more like yourself.
After baby arrives, our Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and lymphatic massage support the next stage of recovery.
Who It Helps
Each session is built around your trimester and how you're feeling that day, not a set routine.
Growing weight and slower circulation can leave ankles, feet, and lower legs holding onto fluid, especially in the Florida heat. Gentle, side-lying massage helps ease that puffiness.
Shifting posture and added weight put new strain on the low back and hips. Our therapist works around your changing shape rather than through it.
Many expectant moms find it harder to get comfortable at night. A pregnancy-safe session can ease the tension that keeps you tossing and turning.
Pregnancy comes with its own kind of tired. A calm hour of therapist-led relaxation is its own reward, no agenda beyond feeling better.
Fleming Island · Northeast Florida
Fleming Island doesn't slow down for pregnancy: long walks around the Eagle Harbor pond, errands in Florida heat and humidity, and everyday life on your feet all add up to swelling and tension that hit expectant moms harder. Prenatal massage is the gentle, specialized work that helps your body handle it, easing heat-driven swelling in the legs and feet and the low-back tension that comes with a growing baby. Not every therapist trains in safe, screened prenatal positioning; ours does.
Northeast Florida’s UV index climbs to extreme from spring through late summer, and sun exposure drives much of the collagen loss and visible aging we treat, so care here is as much about prevention as it is about correction.
The Day Spa at Eagle Harbor carries its own 4.9-star rating from real guests, inside a genuine day-spa building overlooking the Eagle Harbor pond, a mile from our Medical Spa at Island Lane.
Serving
The Pura Vida Approach
Every prenatal massage at Pura Vida is placed by a licensed massage therapist who checks in on your due date, trimester, and any complications your doctor has flagged before your first session, then uses supportive, side-lying positioning throughout, never a face-down table.
That kind of care runs through the whole Day Spa, so your prenatal massage is planned around your pregnancy, never squeezed in as an afterthought. And if a full session isn't right for where you are today, we will tell you honestly and suggest what makes more sense.
Is This For You?
These are informational guardrails, not a diagnosis. When in doubt, check with your doctor before booking, and tell us your due date, trimester, and any complications so we can tailor or postpone your session.
Ready to Start?
Book an appointment and our licensed massage therapist tailors a safe, side-lying session around your due date and how you're feeling, here at the Day Spa in Fleming Island.
Our Process
Before your first session, your therapist asks about your due date, trimester, and any complications your doctor has flagged, so the session is built around where you are today.
Your therapist positions you on your side with supportive bolsters. You are never asked to lie flat on your stomach or back for an extended prenatal session, which keeps you comfortable and safe as your pregnancy progresses.
Using lighter, slower strokes than a deep-tissue session, your therapist focuses on the low back, hips, and swollen legs or feet, working for circulation and comfort and adjusting throughout based on how you feel.
Plan a few quiet minutes afterward and drink water. If anything felt off during your session, tell your therapist, and mention it to your doctor at your next visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many spas, including ours, wait until the second trimester to begin regular prenatal massage as a standard precaution, though this varies by provider and by pregnancy. Always check with your doctor first, and let us know your due date and trimester when you book so we can plan your session appropriately.
A prenatal massage at Pura Vida uses gentle, side-lying positioning with supportive bolsters, never lying flat on your stomach or back for an extended session, and lighter pressure than a typical deep-tissue massage. Your therapist focuses on common trouble spots like the low back, hips, and swollen legs or feet, adjusting throughout based on how you feel.
For most healthy, low-risk pregnancies past the first trimester, yes, with your doctor’s guidance. We ask about your due date, trimester, and any complications before every session, and we will always say so if something isn’t the right fit for you that day. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or your doctor has flagged concerns, check with them before booking.
Deep or firm pressure on the abdomen is avoided throughout pregnancy, and certain pressure points some therapists associate with inducing labor are handled with extra caution, especially earlier in pregnancy. Your therapist will walk you through what is and is not included before your session starts, and will always adjust based on your comfort and your doctor’s guidance.
No. Prenatal sessions at Pura Vida use side-lying positioning with supportive bolsters instead of a face-down table, which keeps you comfortable and avoids pressure on the abdomen as your pregnancy progresses. This is standard practice for prenatal massage, not a special accommodation.
You are always in control of what you wear during your session. Many guests keep their bra on for comfort, and your therapist works around your clothing and positioning either way. Wear whatever feels most comfortable to you, and let your therapist know if you need anything adjusted.
