Treatment Overview
Your lymph system carries a clear, infection-fighting fluid throughout the body and clears away waste as it goes. When that flow slows down, from surgery, poor circulation, or a stubborn cold, the body can hold onto swelling and toxins longer than it should. Lymphatic massage uses gentle, rhythmic pressure, not deep tissue work, to encourage that fluid to move again.
Our therapist trained specifically in manual and post-surgical lymphatic drainage. If you are recovering from a procedure, managing swelling, or simply want a gentler session, this is a distinct treatment from a firm deep tissue or Swedish massage. Your therapist tailors the work to what your body needs that day. Browse the full Day Spa lineup for every other way we help your body reset.
Depending on your goals, a Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, or prenatal massage may be the better fit.
Who It Helps
Each session is built around what your body is dealing with, not a set routine.
A gentle technique that helps move lymph fluid after plastic surgery or another procedure, supporting your body’s own healing process and easing swelling after surgery.
Slow lymph flow can leave the body holding onto puffiness and toxins it would otherwise clear on its own. This massage encourages that natural drainage.
Many pregnant guests find lymphatic work eases swelling and discomfort. We’ll ask about your trimester and check with your doctor’s guidance before your first session.
Guests dealing with allergies, sinus infections, or the tail end of a cold often find gentle lymphatic work eases the pressure and congestion that comes with it.
Add-On Treatments
Any of these can be added to your lymphatic massage the same visit, at no extra time for aromatherapy.
Focused scalp and head massage to relax and de-stress before or after your main session.
Warmed stones layered into your session to ease tension and deepen relaxation, an easy addition to a lymphatic session.
Targeted therapy to relieve sinus pressure and the jaw tension and pain of TMJ.
A therapeutic percussion device incorporated into the session for extra relaxation.
Suction-based technique that decompresses muscle tension and releases trigger points.
A sea-salt scrub with shea butter body cream on your hands, feet, or back.
Natural oils layered into your session to elevate relaxation, at no extra time.
Fleming Island · Northeast Florida
Fleming Island rarely slows down. Pickleball and tennis at Eagle Harbor, boating on Doctors Lake, golf, and long days in the Florida heat all leave the body holding fluid, tension, and inflammation. Lymphatic massage is the gentle, specialized work that helps it clear, whether you are recovering from surgery, easing everyday swelling, or bouncing back after a hard week outdoors. Not every therapist trains in it; ours holds certifications in both manual and post-surgical lymphatic drainage.
Northeast Florida’s UV index climbs to extreme from spring through late summer, and sun exposure drives much of the collagen loss and visible aging we treat, so care here is as much about prevention as it is about correction.
The Day Spa at Eagle Harbor carries its own 4.9-star rating from real guests, inside a genuine day-spa building overlooking the Eagle Harbor pond, a mile from our Medical Spa at Island Lane.
Serving
The Pura Vida Approach
Every lymphatic massage at Pura Vida is placed by a licensed massage therapist who checks in on your health history before your first session and adjusts pressure and technique to what your body needs that day, whether that is post-surgical recovery, everyday swelling, or simply wanting a gentler massage.
That care runs through everything we do at the Day Spa, so your session is shaped around your recovery rather than slotted into a booking grid. And if lymphatic work is not what your body needs right now, we will tell you honestly and steer you toward the treatment that is.
Is This For You?
These are informational guardrails, not a diagnosis. When in doubt, check with your doctor before booking, and tell us about any health conditions so we can tailor or postpone your session.
Ready to Start?
Book an appointment and our licensed massage therapist tailors a lymphatic session around what your body needs, here at the Day Spa in Fleming Island.
Our Process
Your session starts with a few minutes talking through what brought you in: post-surgical recovery, swelling, pregnancy, or simply wanting a gentler massage than deep tissue. Your therapist reviews your health history and tailors the session from there.
Manual lymphatic drainage uses light, rhythmic strokes rather than deep pressure. Your therapist works to encourage lymph fluid toward the heart, easing swelling and supporting your body’s natural drainage.
Ask to layer in scalp work, cupping, an exfoliating scrub, or aromatherapy the same visit, at no extra time for aromatherapy.
Plan a few quiet minutes afterward, drink water, and let your body keep clearing what the massage started. Many guests leave feeling lighter and more at ease.

Frequently Asked Questions
Lymphatic massage is a gentle, hands-on technique that uses light, rhythmic pressure to help move lymph fluid, your body’s waste-clearing fluid, back toward the heart when circulation is sluggish or interrupted. At Pura Vida’s Day Spa, our licensed massage therapist uses manual lymphatic drainage to support natural healing and reduce swelling, most often for guests recovering from surgery, dealing with poor circulation, or managing pregnancy-related puffiness.
Lymphatic massage helps guests recovering from plastic surgery or another procedure, anyone dealing with lingering swelling or sluggish circulation, pregnant guests managing puffiness (with your doctor’s guidance), and people looking for sinus or seasonal-allergy relief. It is also a good fit if you simply want a gentler session than deep tissue or Swedish massage.
For most guests, yes, but we ask about your health history before every session. If you have an active infection, a history of blood clots, or certain heart or kidney conditions, check with your doctor before booking, and let us know so we can adjust or postpone your session. We will never talk you into a treatment that is not right for your body that day.
Lymphatic massage uses far lighter pressure than deep tissue or even a classic Swedish massage. Instead of working out muscle tension with firm strokes, it uses gentle, rhythmic movements designed to encourage lymph fluid to drain, which is why it is often recommended after surgery rather than a deep-pressure massage.
Expect a calm, quiet room and light, gentle pressure throughout, nothing like the firm work of a deep-tissue session. Many guests add scalp work, cupping, an exfoliating scrub, or aromatherapy the same visit. Afterward, plan a few quiet minutes, drink water, and give your body time to keep clearing what the massage started, and many guests leave feeling lighter and more at ease.
