However, it is not a miracle, and the practices are not the same. Most clinics own one device and recommend it to everyone. What Radiofrequency Microneedling Does

Classic microneedling creates thousands of tiny channels in the skin. The skin reads those channels as injury and responds by building collagen and elastin. That response is the whole point, and it works well for surface texture, fine lines, and early tone problems.

Radiofrequency microneedling sends controlled heat down the same channels. Heat does something needles alone cannot: it prompts the deeper dermis to contract and remodel, not just the surface to resurface. That extra reach is why we choose RF microneedling for acne scarring, stubborn texture, enlarged pores, and skin that has begun to loosen.

Not every concern needs the same depth or the same amount of heat. That is why we keep more than one option on our menu instead of building every plan around a single machine.

Our Microneedling Options, Side by Side

• Rejuvapen classic microneedling works at a superficial depth with no heat. It is the gentlest option with the least downtime, best for mild texture, pores, and fine lines, and our medical aestheticians deliver it.

These get marketed as interchangeable. They are not, and that difference is the reason we offer all four. Some patients start with one and move to another as their goals change, and some plans combine two across a year.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

We numb the treatment area first and give it time to work, so the session feels like warmth and pressure, not pain. A face takes under an hour once numbing is factored in. Afterward the skin looks like a moderate sunburn: pink, warm, slightly swollen.

That settles over a day or two. Most people put makeup back on the next day and go about their week. This is low downtime, not no downtime, so plan a quiet evening.

Results build gradually. There is often an early tightening effect, but the main change develops over the following weeks as new collagen forms. A series of about three sessions is the usual plan, spaced several weeks apart, and your provider will confirm the number after seeing how your skin responds to the first. Classic microneedling with the Rejuvapen is lighter still, while Morpheus8 can mean a few more days of visible recovery.

How to Judge a Provider

Radiofrequency microneedling is a medical procedure, and the FDA has been explicit about it. Its guidance for patients on microneedling devices recommends asking your provider about their training and experience, asking how the device is cleaned between patients, and confirming that a new needle cartridge is used for every patient and every session. Cartridge reuse is unsafe, full stop.

The FDA also notes that microneedling devices are not authorized to deliver topical products, vitamin solutions, drugs, or blood products into the skin. If a practice is selling the channels as a delivery system for something else, ask them to back up the claim.

Three questions worth asking anywhere, including here:

Who It Suits, and Who It Does Not

RF microneedling suits adults treating acne scarring, uneven texture, enlarged pores, or the first signs of laxity, who can commit to a series of sessions and a day or two of visible redness.

It is not the right treatment for significant sagging, which usually calls for deeper energy devices or, sometimes, surgery. It is also not appropriate during an active skin infection or cold-sore outbreak in the treatment area, on recent isotretinoin, or in several of the medical situations the FDA lists.
