Why Are There So Many Different Prices for Microneedling?

Featured Image

Don’t Be Fooled! Not All Microneedling is the Same! If you’ve done a Google search about microneedling anytime recently, you’ve probably wondered how there can be such a huge variation in prices between treatment providers. Let us explain!

Not All Microneedling Devices Are the Same

There are many traditional (we say old school) microneedling devices used across the country. Most of these devices are called microneedling pens (with brand names like SkinPen, MDPen & DermaPen). The cost to purchase a device like this ranges anywhere from $500 to $5000. With these devices, the needles are moved across the skin creating “micro-injuries” to the surface of the skin. The skin responds by creating collagen and elastin to heal the injury which makes the skin appear plumper and even a little tighter. Yes, they work but……

Now We Have Microneedling on Steroids!

While traditional microneedling devices like #SkinPen were good in their day, we now have better options. The latest generation in microneedling technology adds radiofrequency heat (RF) and LED light therapy to microneedling and all three treatments are delivered at once with the same device. These devices cost anywhere from $85,000 to $125,000 to buy, but this innovative design takes skin rejuvenation to the next level delivering far superior results than the first-generation devices. That’s exactly why Pura Vida decided to buy #Vivace almost 2 years ago!

RF Microneedling

How Vivace RF Microneedling Works:

While the skin is being needled to create the micro-channel injuries, the RF energy is also being delivered through the small needles into the deeper dermis. In addition to the benefits seen from the micro-injury of the microneedles, RF microneedling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis greatly enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction. The RF energy heats the underlying layers, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster, more dramatic results similar to ablative laser procedures, but with significantly less discomfort and downtime.

Who is it for?

Vivace RF microneedling is appropriate for nearly any skin type and tone. The procedure addresses the following issues:

  • Fine lines and facial wrinkles

  • Scarring from acne and chicken pox

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity

  • Irregular skin texture and tone

Most people will achieve results with 2-3 treatment sessions, done about four weeks apart. The number of treatments will depend on individual response to the treatment, skincare at home, and the severity of the skin issues to be addressed.

What to Expect

A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to treatment. The total treatment time usually takes 1 hour. Skin is typically red for a few hours but the redness is typically mild. There is little or no discomfort during or after the treatment and patients typically are able to return to regular activities within 8 hours. Makeup can be applied 24 hours after the procedure to mask any residual redness.
