Gummy Smile Reduction with neuromodulators

This patient in her forties came in to discuss gummy smile reduction options with Nurse Practitioner Brittany Smith. This patient wanted to partially reduce the amount of gum line displayed when she smiled without completely changing her gummy smile. With the use of Xeomin a Botulinum toxin injection, Brittany Smith was able to weaken the hyperactive upper lip muscle resulting in the reduction of the amount of gum line displayed when a person smiles. Injections are placed into the muscle with a very tiny needle on each side of the upper lip near the nose in order to temporarily reduce the lip’s hyperactive muscle which was being pulled up too high causing excessive gum exposure.
