Non-Surgical Options For Eyelid Droop Correction
For a long time, surgery was the only option to correct droopy eyelids. Well not anymore! We are thrilled to have 3 non-surgical options right here in the Fleming Island and Jacksonville area. One option is Vivace RF Microneedling. By pulling the sagging skin onto the orbital rim (upper eye bone), we are able to needle the skin. These needles create tiny microinjuries to the skin which causes the body to produce more collagen and elastin. The needles also deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin which causes tightening. This combination results in a tighter, more youthful skin in the eyelid area.
Another option is called Plasma IQ Fibroblast which is performed using the Plasma IQ device. The plasma pen utilizes plasma energy to safely create microinjuries, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. As your skin heals it produces extra collagen and elastin which tightens and lifts the skin. You will see immediate results that continue to improve over the following 8-12 weeks.
The third option called Upneeq was recently approved by the FDA and is proving to be one of the most groundbreaking treatments for lip droop that we’ve ever had. It is a prescription eye drop that actually lifts the lid. It is administered once daily, and with just one drop, the lid is lifted! Upneeq contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride which is a vasoconstrictor that causes the Muller’s muscle (one of the two that opens the eyelid) to contract. This effect begins in just minutes after administration, has peak effect at 2 hours and lasts from 6-8 hours. In clinical trials, 84% of people experienced a noticeable lift with very few reporting any side effects. Most people also report that their eyes not only look wider but also brighter. Suffice it say, people love Upneeq!
Botox can sometimes be an option to help the eye appear more lifted. It actually is not working on the eyelid itself but, when injected with the proper technique, it can provide a lift to the eyebrow area.
